"Pokémon Journeys" Coming to Netflix June 12, JP Series on Hiatus Due to COVID-19.

Hey fellas: I have some good news and some bad news for you all. The bad news is that due to the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak, the latest iteration of Pokémon is one of many productions that is currently on hiatus out of safety concerns. Other notable anime productions impacted include the final "Rebuild of Evangelion" film, the Wano arc of "One Piece" and the reboot of "Digimon Adventure" (the latter two being confirmed by Toei on Twitter, also thanking fans for their understanding and support at this difficult time).

The good news is that earlier today, Netflix announced that the latest season; entitled "Pokémon Journeys" will begin streaming on June 12 in the US. The series takes place in every region from Kanto to Galar and everywhere in between. So far, it's been revealed that Go will keep his name (romanized as "Goh"), and Professor Sakuragi will be called Professor Cerise (which fits, given that it's a different color and the home base is in Vermilion City). The names of other characters such as Koharu have yet to be confirmed at this time. This is also the second production for the series to debut on Netflix outside Japan after the all-CGI "Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution" earlier this year.
Update: As of the premiere of the series on Canada's Teletoon on May 9; Koharu's English name is romanized as "Chloe."

I am very pleased with this news, as I have enjoyed what I've seen of this series so far. I don't know how long this hiatus will last, but my guess is that given how most animation is done digitally nowadays; that both sides of the Pacific are trying to find remote workarounds to avoid going out unless they have to (Funimation, for example, had to temporarily put the dub of My Hero Academia on hold till one was found for the same reason). I will bring you any further developments as they happen. In the meantime, I recommend everyone do what they need to do; and wash their hands. Stay safe, reject fear, embrace facts.
